Richard Riehle
Biography
Richard Riehle is an American character actor who has built a career across more than 400 film and television projects. Born in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, he studied at the University of Notre Dame and earned an MFA from the University of Minnesota. He started acting at the Meadow Brook Theatre in Rochester, Michigan, and worked in regional theater in the Pacific Northwest before appearing in the John Wayne film Rooster Cogburn. His film roles include Tom Smykowski in Office Space, Carlson in Of Mice and Men (1992), and Principal Beasely in Jury Duty (1995), along with parts in Mercury Rising (1998) and Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo (1999). On television, he played Walt Finnerty on Grounded for Life from 2001 to 2005 and Batai in a Star Trek: The Next Generation episode, with guest spots on NCIS, The Middle, and The West Wing. He has also portrayed Santa Claus in eight projects.
