Plot summary
After years away, fashion designer Sean McAllister goes back to his southern California hometown when he hears that his brother Rick has cancer. Rick shares a house with his wife Glenn, their son Eli, and a live-in nurse named Ana. Eli, who is eleven, admires his father and grandfather and wants to bowl as well as they do. Dick, Rick's father, owns a shop in town and bowls in the Fiesta Cup tournament. Sean has been away since a quarrel with Dick, and coming home stirs the distance between them again. Sean is gay, and a moment in his youth that a teacher witnessed brought shame to Dick, leaving father and son apart. When one of Dick's bowlers is hurt, Sean joins the team.
