Biography

Jim Cummings is an American voice actor who has worked in animation since the 1980s and has appeared in more than 600 titles. Born in 1952 in Youngstown, Ohio, he started voice acting in late 1984. His early work included Dumbo's Circus, and in 1988 he took over the role of Winnie the Pooh from Sterling Holloway. He has also voiced Tigger, the Tasmanian Devil, and Pete, and played Fat Cat and Monterey Jack in Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers, the title character on Darkwing Duck, and Dr. Ivo Robotnik on Sonic the Hedgehog. His film credits include Ed in The Lion King (1994), Steele in Balto (1995), Kaa in The Jungle Book 2 (2003), and Ray in The Princess and the Frog (2009). For Christopher Robin (2018) he voiced Pooh and Tigger, earning praise from Vanity Fair. In 2023 he started the podcast Toon'd In! with Jim Cummings.

    In 2018, Cummings voiced Winnie the Pooh and Tigger in the live-action Disney film Christopher Robin. He became the first animation voice performer to return to one or more roles for a live-action Disney film.
