Plot summary
The gnomes in two neighbouring gardens have inherited a feud from the people who own them, and take it seriously enough to raid each other's flowerbeds. Gnomeo and Juliet meet on the wrong side of that fence and keep meeting there.
Their families are Montague and Capulet, the story they are standing in is famous, and neither fact stops the pair trying to make it come out differently. The garden supplies its own hazards, including lawnmower races, a hostile enforcer named Tybalt and a plastic pink flamingo with advice to give.
Kelly Asbury directed this animated comedy for Touchstone Pictures, Rocket Pictures and Arc Productions, from a screenplay by Rob Sprackling and John R. Smith. James McAvoy voices Gnomeo and Emily Blunt voices Juliet, with Michael Caine as Lord Redbrick, Maggie Smith as Lady Bluebury, Jason Statham as Tybalt and Jim Cummings as Featherstone. It runs 84 minutes and is rated G.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Gnomeo & Juliet (2011)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Before James McAvoy and Emily Blunt were cast as the leads, the roles of Gnomeo and Juliet were originally intended for Ewan McGregor and Kate Winslet.
- Director Kelly Asbury cast the film purely by listening to voice auditions without knowing which actor was trying out, only learning the performers' identities once he had already decided they fit each character.
- Gnomeo & Juliet was Touchstone Pictures' first animated release since The Nightmare Before Christmas in 1993, and remains the label's only film ever to receive a G rating from the MPAA.
