Plot summary
Quasimodo, the bell ringer of Notre-Dame de Paris, lives there with the gargoyles Victor, Hugo, and Laverne. His friend Esmeralda and Captain Phoebus have married, and their young son Zephyr is close to Quasimodo. For Le Jour d'Amour, a celebration where couples declare their love, the circus troupe Cirque de Sarousch arrives in the city. Its owner, the magician Sarousch, wants Notre-Dame's treasured bell, La Fidèle, and sends his assistant Madellaine, a high-wire girl, to learn where it hangs. She meets Quasimodo without seeing his face, and they get along well. When she does see him, she runs away.
