Plot summary
Max Goof is a teenager who wants to impress Roxanne, a classmate he has a crush on, and he idolizes the pop star Powerline. On the last day of school, Max and his friends P.J. and Bobby Zimuruski hijack a school assembly and dance while lip syncing to a Powerline song, and the stunt makes Max popular, so he invites Roxanne to a viewing party for Powerline's live concert broadcast from Los Angeles. Principal Mazur warns Goofy about his son's behavior, and Goofy immediately arranges a father-son fishing trip to Lake Destiny, Idaho. Max tries to cancel the date, then tells Roxanne that he and Goofy are traveling to Los Angeles for the concert and that Powerline has invited them onstage.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about A Goofy Movie (1995)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- A single dead pixel spotted in the footage on a monitor forced the team to recapture three-quarters of A Goofy Movie on a non-defective monitor, pushing its release from November 1994 to April 1995. Director Kevin Lima said the delay let them polish the movie.
- After Bill Farmer recorded nearly all of Goofy's lines, Jeffrey Katzenberg wanted to replace him with Steve Martin. Farmer was instead asked to voice Goofy in his regular speaking voice, and spent weeks recording that way before re-recording in Goofy's signature cartoon voice.
- Disney treated A Goofy Movie's release as a contractual obligation because it had been greenlit by Jeffrey Katzenberg, who left the company in April 1995 after tensions with former CEO Michael Eisner.
- Producers shaped the fictional pop star Powerline's image after Prince, and cast R&B singer Tevin Campbell, then known as "Prince's protégé", to sing for him because Campbell had worked with Prince before production.
- A 2019 Disneyland 1990s-themed throwback night drew its longest line for a meet-and-greet with Max dressed as Powerline, and in 2020 a TikTok dance craze inspired by Powerline's "I 2 I" number became a popular trend.
- The eighth episode of Atlanta's fourth season in 2022, titled "The Goof Who Sat By the Door", was a mockumentary about the making of A Goofy Movie.
