Plot summary
Christopher Robin once spent his days in the Hundred Acre Wood with Winnie the Pooh and the other stuffed animals. A farewell party, a strict boarding school and his father's death push him into adulthood, and he forgets them. He marries Evelyn, an architect, and they have a daughter, Madeline. In London he works as Director of Efficiency at Winslow Luggages, where his superior, Giles Winslow Jr., orders him to reduce expenditures by twenty percent by choosing which employees to lay off, with the plan due on Monday. Christopher misses the family weekend at their cottage in Sussex. That morning, Pooh wakes to find his friends gone, walks through a door and comes out in London, where the two meet again.

- Chris O'Dowd was originally set to voice Tigger in the film, with Roger L. Jackson voice-doubling for him, but Jim Cummings replaced him after test audiences reacted negatively to how O'Dowd voiced the character.
- Gemma Arterton was in negotiations in June 2017 to play Evelyn, the wife of the title character, but ultimately passed on the role, and Hayley Atwell was cast as Evelyn that August, with Mark Gatiss cast as boss Giles Winslow.
- China denied Christopher Robin a release, and some speculated this was because of China's censorship of Winnie-the-Pooh since mid-2017, while other industry insiders blamed the film's size and competition from other Hollywood films in the market.
- Much of the Hundred Acre Wood was shot at Ashdown Forest, the real forest that was the original inspiration for the books' setting, as well as Windsor Great Park, Shepperton Studios and Dover's seafront and former station, which doubled as a London railway station.
- Composer Jóhann Jóhannsson was initially hired to score the film but died on February 9, 2018, and the finished film is dedicated to him.
