Ben Affleck

Biography

Ben Affleck is an American actor and filmmaker who started as a child, appearing in the PBS children's science show The Voyage of the Mimi before moving into independent comedies such as Dazed and Confused (1993) and Kevin Smith's Mallrats (1995), Chasing Amy (1997) and Dogma (1999). He and Matt Damon co-wrote Good Will Hunting (1997), in which they both acted, and their screenplay earned them the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. That success helped make him a leading man in studio films including Armageddon (1998), Pearl Harbor (2001) and The Sum of All Fears (2002). A career comeback came with his George Reeves role in Hollywoodland (2006), which brought him the Volpi Cup. He directed and starred in The Town (2010) and Argo (2012), the latter winning Best Picture and Best Director honors, and later played Batman while starring in Gone Girl (2014) and The Accountant (2016).
