Biography

Jason Lee is an American actor, filmmaker and former professional skateboarder. He skated professionally in the late 1980s and early 1990s and co-founded Stereo Skateboards in 1992. He made his major film debut in Kevin Smith's Mallrats (1995), a cult hit, and went on to appear in Smith's Chasing Amy (1997), Dogma (1999), Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (2001) and Clerks II (2006). He earned an Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Male for Chasing Amy. Lee took leads in Heartbreakers (2001), Stealing Harvard (2002) and A Guy Thing (2003), and supporting parts in Almost Famous (2000), Vanilla Sky (2001) and Dreamcatcher (2003). He voiced Syndrome in The Incredibles (2004), Bones in Monster House (2006) and Underdog in Underdog (2007), and played Dave Seville in the Alvin and the Chipmunks films from 2007 to 2015. He starred as Earl Hickey in My Name Is Earl, earning two Golden Globe nominations and a Screen Actors Guild nomination.
