Plot summary
For more than a year, Stanley, a clumsy and shy office worker, has had a crush on Diana Evans, a newly hired colleague. He finally asks her out. His friend Michael and other coworkers set up an office pool on how far Stanley will get with her, and one of them follows the pair. After drinks, Stanley drives Diana toward the theater and hits a homeless man named Phil with his car. Stanley offers to pay for the belongings Phil lost in the collision, then withdraws cash and takes him to a hospital because Phil is limping. Stanley tries to slip away with Diana, but Phil catches up and throws himself at the car.
