Plot summary
Steppenwolf leads an army of Parademons to Earth in pursuit of three Mother Boxes, separated and hidden long ago: one kept by the Amazons, one by the Atlanteans, and one by humanity. When the boxes stir again, Queen Hippolyta warns her daughter Diana, who joins Bruce Wayne in assembling defenders. Bruce approaches Arthur Curry in Iceland and is refused, then tracks down Barry Allen in Central City. Diana reaches out to Victor Stone, rebuilt after an accident into a techno-organic being who hides from the world. Brought together, the boxes would let Steppenwolf reshape the planet into a copy of his own homeworld.

- Henry Cavill had grown a mustache for Mission: Impossible - Fallout during the Justice League reshoots; director Christopher McQuarrie asked for $3 million to digitally restore it for that film if Cavill shaved, and when Paramount refused, Cavill's mustache instead had to be digitally erased for Justice League.
- Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara ordered that Justice League run under two hours, so the final cut lands at exactly that length; the studio also kept the release date despite unfinished post-production problems so executives could collect bonuses before its merger with AT&T closed.
- Warner Bros. spent about $25 million on two months of reshoots in London and Los Angeles for Justice League, far above the typical $6 to $10 million reshoot budget, pushing the film's total cost to $300 million.
- In May 2017, Zack Snyder stepped down from directing Justice League to cope with his daughter's suicide, and Joss Whedon assumed his position to oversee post-production and complete the film.
