Biography
Jason Mewes is an American actor, comedian, and podcaster who produces films. He is known for his portrayal of Jay, the talking member of the Jay and Silent Bob duo, in Kevin Smith's View Askewniverse movies. Born in Highlands, New Jersey, he was pursuing roofing work when Smith cast him as Jay in Clerks (1994). He returned as Jay in Mallrats (1995), Chasing Amy (1997), and Dogma (1999). He later played him in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (2001) and Clerks II (2006). He voiced Jay in Clerks: The Animated Series. With Smith he appeared in Scream 3 (2000) and Bottoms Up (2006), and he played Jimmy the Janitor in the Canadian show Todd and the Book of Pure Evil from 2010 to 2012. He co-hosts the podcast Jay and Silent Bob Get Old and co-produced Jay and Silent Bob's Super Groovy Cartoon Movie (2013). His directorial debut, Madness in the Method (2019), premiered in 2019.
