Plot summary
Ben Holmes writes blurbs, the short introductions printed on hardcover jackets. Traveling from New York City toward his wedding to Bridget in Georgia, he is already nervous about flying, and on board he sits beside Sarah, an eccentric drifter who begins talking to him at once. A seagull flies into an engine as the plane takes off. Rather than fly again, Ben leaves the airport in a rented car with Sarah and another passenger, Vic. Vic smokes marijuana while driving and the three are arrested. Sarah also has business in Georgia: collecting the proceeds from selling the bagel shop she and her estranged husband, Carl, opened together.
