Angie Dickinson
Biography
Angie Dickinson is an American retired actress who started in 1950s television anthology series and got her film breakthrough in Rio Bravo (1959) with John Wayne, winning a Golden Globe for New Star of the Year. She became a leading lady in movies including Ocean's Eleven (1960), The Killers (1964), The Chase (1966), and Point Blank (1967). From 1974 to 1978 she starred as Sergeant Pepper Anderson on Police Woman, earning a Golden Globe and three Emmy nominations. She won a Saturn Award for Dressed to Kill (1980). Her later work included Even Cowgirls Get the Blues (1993), Sabrina (1995), Pay It Forward (2000), Duets (2000), and a cameo in the 2001 remake of Ocean's Eleven. She also appeared in Elvis Has Left the Building (2004), and her final acting credit was Mending Fences (2009).

Big break
After Dickinson appeared in a March 1974 episode of the anthology series Police Story, NBC offered her a show of her own, which became Police Woman. She hesitated until producers said she could become a household name.
First role
Dickinson's first television acting role came on New Year's Eve 1954, when she appeared in an episode of the series Death Valley Days.
A role that slipped away
In the mid-1980s, Dickinson turned down the part of Sable Colby. The character was for The Colbys, a spin-off of Dynasty.
