Plot summary
When George Abitbol dies during a cruise, his parting words are "Monde de merde", and the director of an American newspaper cannot make sense of them. He hands the puzzle to three reporters, Dave, Peter and Steven, who set off for Tegzas to meet the people who knew Abitbol during his life. The film is built entirely from extracts of old American studio films, redubbed with fresh lines so that the assembled footage tells a different story, a parody of Citizen Kane. French actors supply the new voices, and the scenes come from around fifty pictures. It is the last part of a triptych named Le Grand Détournement, after Derrick contre Superman and Ça détourne.
