Plot summary

Harmony Jones travels from town to town in the western United States, setting up Pink Lady cosmetics training seminars. She once met the young Elvis Presley, early in her life, and his influence has stayed with her since. Her Pink Lady work goes well and she is well liked, yet her own life feels empty. All along her routes, Elvis impersonators die. A strange car accident kills several of them, and she flees from the authorities. On the road she meets Miles Taylor, a downtrodden advertising executive who has his own Elvis troubles, and he pursues her. Her mother, Bobette, once worked as a mechanic for the real Elvis.
