Plot summary
Paul Hoplin has a blackmail scheme built on a bomb. He tells 20th Century Airlines that an explosive is hidden aboard one of its flights and demands $500,000. The miniature device was designed by electronics expert Jim Molner, who did not know who had commissioned it. Hoplin and his gang then take Jim, Jim's wife Joan and their young daughter Patty hostage. Two of the gang, Kelly and Vince, keep the husband and the child in a midtown penthouse while Joan is sent out alone to deliver the money, with her family held as the guarantee that she returns. In New York, federal agents meet with airline representatives while Hoplin calls in another threat.
