Biography

Lauren Holly is an American and Canadian actress who started on television at 20 with two episodes of Hill Street Blues. Born in Bristol, Pennsylvania, she attended Sarah Lawrence College before joining the soap opera All My Children as Julie Rand Chandler from 1986 to 1989. Her big break came in 1992 as Deputy Sheriff Maxine Stewart on Picket Fences, a role she played for four seasons. She went on to portray Linda Lee in Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story (1993), Mary Swanson in Dumb & Dumber (1994), and appeared in Sabrina (1995), Down Periscope (1996), and Any Given Sunday (1999). She was also in What Women Want (2000). On television, she played NCIS Director Jenny Shepard from 2005 to 2008 and Dr. Betty Rogers on Motive. Later film work includes Field of Lost Shoes and The Blackcoat's Daughter. She had a recurring role on Designated Survivor in 2018.

At the age of 20, Holly began her acting career by appearing as Carla Walicki in two episodes of Hill Street Blues.
Big break
Holly landed her breakthrough role in 1992, playing Deputy Sheriff Maxine Stewart on CBS's Picket Fences for four seasons. She appeared in every episode but one, starring opposite veteran movie actor Tom Skerritt.
