Biography

Daryl Hannah is an American actress and director who has appeared in more than a hundred movies and television shows since the 1970s. Born in Chicago and raised in Long Grove, Illinois, she studied ballet and acting at the University of Southern California before making her film debut at 17 in The Fury (1978). She gained fame as Pris in Blade Runner (1982), and became known for romantic comedies such as Splash (1984) and Roxanne (1987). Her other films include Wall Street (1987) and Steel Magnolias (1989). She later played the assassin Elle Driver in Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (2003) and Kill Bill: Vol. 2 (2004), and starred in the Netflix series Sense8 (2015). She won Saturn Awards for Splash and Kill Bill: Vol. 2, and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Music Film in 2023. She also directed and produced short films and documentaries, and appeared in The Seven Year Itch in London's West End in 2000.

Hannah made her film debut at 17 in Brian De Palma's 1978 horror film The Fury, the role that started her career.
Own stunts
In Ridley Scott's science fiction classic Blade Runner, released in 1982, Hannah took the part of Pris, an acrobatic and violent replicant, and did some of her own gymnastic stunts.
Beyond film
Hannah is an accomplished theater actress who took on Marilyn Monroe's starring role in The Seven Year Itch, a production staged in London's West End in 2000.
A change of course
With actress Hilary Shepard Turner, Hannah invented two board games: Love It or Hate It and LIEbrary. In 2005 she gave a preview of LIEbrary on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
Beyond film
In 1985, the music video for "You're a Friend of Mine," performed by Clarence Clemons and Jackson Browne, featured Hannah, who also sang backing vocals.
Behind the camera
Hannah directed the 2025 documentary film Coastal, which looks behind the scenes at the Coastal concert tour of Neil Young.
