Plot summary
A masked intruder comes into Anne's bedroom at night, chloroforms her and carries her off to an isolated house. She is held there by Frank and Helen, a couple who mean to take her baby. Frank is a technician at the fertility clinic where Anne was treated. Helen went mad after Frank aborted her baby on learning it would be born deformed, and the procedure left her sterile. Jack is told Anne died in a car accident but refuses to accept it and keeps pressing the police to look for her. Anne tries to get out of the house, and each attempt fails.
