Biography

Michael Parks was an American actor and singer who moved from small television roles in the early 1960s to recognition as Adam in John Huston's The Bible: In the Beginning... (1966). He starred in Then Came Bronson from 1969 to 1970 as a motorcyclist drifting between towns, sang the theme Long Lonesome Highway, which reached the Billboard charts, and recorded albums for MGM Records. After disputes with the show's producers, he took small parts in independent and Canadian films. He played Earl McGraw, a Texas Ranger, in From Dusk Till Dawn (1996) and again in Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (2003), while in Kill Bill: Vol. 2 (2004) he was the pimp Esteban Vihaio. He also appeared in From Dusk Till Dawn 3: The Hangman's Daughter (2000) as Ambrose Bierce, played villains in Kevin Smith's Red State (2011) and Tusk (2014), and was the subject of the documentary Long Lonesome Highway.

Parks sang the theme song for his series Then Came Bronson, "Long Lonesome Highway," and it reached number 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 41 on the Hot Country Songs chart.
