Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Roxanne (1987)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Steve Martin's idea in the early 1980s was to update Cyrano de Bergerac with one change: this time Cyrano gets the girl. He wrote the screenplay himself, working through 25 drafts over three years.
- C.D.'s enormous nose was a prosthetic that took 90 minutes to glue on every single day and two minutes to pull off. "God how I hated that thing", Steve Martin said of it.
- The town is really Nelson, British Columbia, filmed in the summer of 1986 with the local fire hall on Ward Street as a main set and dressed to pass for the United States. The giveaway is in the props: the mailboxes central to the plot are USPS blue rather than Canada Post red.
