Plot summary

In South Central Los Angeles, a 14-acre lot became the largest community garden in the United States. A mostly Latino group of farmers, the South Central Farmers, took it up as a form of healing after the 1992 riots, growing food, feeding their families and building a community in a blighted part of the city. The city then handed the land back to its original owner, Ralph Horowitz, in a transaction the farmers disputed, and he decided they could no longer farm there. Los Angeles officials and a developer back a plan that would clear the garden and put warehouses on the site. The farmers organize to hold onto their garden.
