Plot summary
The Bride, a former member of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad, is at a chapel in El Paso, Texas, rehearsing her wedding in 1999. Bill, the head of the squad, arrives with the other members and shoots the gathering. Wounded and on the floor, she tells him the unborn child she carries is his, and he fires into her head. She spends four years in a coma. When she wakes in a hospital, she is no longer pregnant. She sets out to kill Bill and the rest of the squad.

- Quentin Tarantino wrote and produced Kill Bill as one film, but once editing began executive producer Harvey Weinstein, known for pressing filmmakers to shorten their films, suggested splitting it in two. The split meant Tarantino did not have to cut scenes such as the anime sequence.
- An early Kill Bill draft included a chapter, set after the fight with Vernita, in which the Bride has a gunfight with Gogo Yubari's vengeful sister Yuki, voiced by Miyu Ishidate Roberts. It was cut for making the film overlong and adding $1 million to the budget, and became the 2025 short The Lost Chapter: Yuki's Revenge.
- The Lost Chapter: Yuki's Revenge was animated in Unreal Engine 5 using models from the video game Fortnite, with Uma Thurman voicing and motion-capturing the Bride, Zoë Bell performing the motion-capture stunts and Tarantino voicing Bill in place of David Carradine, who died in 2009.
