Biography

Born in St. Louis, Kevin Kline is an American actor whose stage and screen work has spanned more than five decades. After training at Juilliard, he helped found the Acting Company in 1972 and became a regular presence at the Public Theater and New York Shakespeare Festival. On Broadway he won Tony Awards for On the Twentieth Century, The Pirates of Penzance, and Present Laughter, and received a Tony nomination for Henry IV. His first film role came in Sophie's Choice (1982), and he won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for A Fish Called Wanda (1988). His film credits include The Big Chill (1983), Silverado (1985), Dave (1993), In & Out (1997), and Beauty and the Beast (2017); he also voiced roles in The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996) and The Road to El Dorado (2000). On television he has voiced Calvin Fischoeder in Bob's Burgers and starred in the miniseries Disclaimer (2024).
