Alan Pakula: Going for Truth (2019) on Netflix

Plot summary

Alan J. Pakula built a long career on the belief that story comes first, and he made anonymity his directing style. The films he made reached audiences through the last half of the twentieth century, and this documentary follows both his working life and his private one, giving an elusive artist the attention he avoided while he worked. Cast and crew from across his filmography, among them To Kill A Mockingbird, Klute, All the President's Men, Sophie's Choice, Presumed Innocent and The Pelican Brief, help bring him back to the screen. Family and friends describe the husband, the stepfather and the artist they knew.
