SPOILER
Mary Surratt, the only female conspirator charged in the Abraham Lincoln assassination, was the first woman to be executed by the US federal government.- Mary Surratt's farmhouse in Clinton, Maryland is now a museum. The town around it was originally called Surrattsville, until the United States Post Office renamed it Robeysville because of the notoriety of the Surratt name; in 1879 it was renamed again, as Clinton.
