Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- The producers chose hand-drawn animation to keep the film's look close to the series, making it the first 20th Century Studios animated film done mainly in traditional animation since The Simpsons Movie in 2007 and the first traditionally animated Disney-distributed feature since Winnie the Pooh in 2011.
- The film was the last animation work for Tuck Tucker, a storyboard revisionist, and Dale Baer, an animator, before their deaths on December 22, 2020, and January 15, 2021, respectively.
- The soundtrack album carries only three of the film's four songs; the third was left off to avoid revealing plot details and was added to later reissues, including the vinyl edition.
- Tonic DNA was hired after working with Bento Box Entertainment on Central Park and was set to handle only musical numbers, but was given two more sequences; its animators mixed hand-drawn and cutout animation, sometimes in the same sequence, notably the "Lucky Ducks" number.
- H. Jon Benjamin confirmed in September 2020 that work on the film was being done remotely because of the COVID-19 pandemic, with recording already begun and the cast reprising their roles from the television series.
