Plot summary
A performer takes on Richard III and works with fellow actors through selected scenes of the play, among them Lady Anne, Queen Elizabeth, King Edward, Buckingham, Clarence, Richmond and Dorset. Staged passages, rehearsals and discussions around the text run alongside one another, and the audience is guided through the play's plot and the history behind it. Actors known for the playwright's work, scholars and people met in the street all speak about his standing in the present day. Their comments touch on the period the play is set in and the times that shaped it, and they consider why American actors have a harder time with such parts than British ones do.
