Biography
Jodie Foster is an American actress and filmmaker who began as a child model and child actor before becoming a leading actress. Born in Los Angeles, she gained notice as a teen through Disney films such as Napoleon and Samantha (1972) and Freaky Friday (1976), and appeared in Martin Scorsese's Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore (1974). Her role as a young prostitute in Taxi Driver (1976) brought an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. After studying at Yale University, she won two Academy Awards for Best Actress, for The Accused (1988) and The Silence of the Lambs (1991), and was later nominated for Nell (1994) and Nyad (2023). She has directed feature films including Little Man Tate (1991) and The Beaver (2011), and founded the production company Egg Pictures. On television she starred in True Detective: Night Country (2024), winning a Primetime Emmy Award.

Foster founded the production company Egg Pictures in 1992 as a subsidiary of PolyGram Filmed Entertainment, and its first release was Nell in December 1994.
