Biography

Victor Argo was an American actor and musician. Born in The Bronx, New York, he began his career on stage, performing Off-Broadway in the 1960s and later helping to found the Riverside Shakespeare Company. He made his film debut in 1972 and often played New York heavies or mobsters, becoming a favorite of directors such as Martin Scorsese, Abel Ferrara and Woody Allen. His credits included Boxcar Bertha (1972), Taxi Driver (1976), The Last Temptation of Christ (1988), King of New York (1990), Bad Lieutenant (1992), True Romance (1993) and Angel Eyes (2001). He appeared in close to seventy theatrical features and about forty television movies and series, among them The Waltons, Kojak and Law & Order. He also performed on Broadway in Anna in the Tropics and pursued country music, cutting demos in Nashville. He died in 2004.
