Biography

Ewan McGregor is a Scottish actor and filmmaker who trained at London's Guildhall School of Music and Drama and started out with a leading part in the British series Lipstick on Your Collar, followed by his film debut in Being Human. He broke through internationally as the heroin addict Mark Renton in Trainspotting (1996), then played Obi-Wan Kenobi across the Star Wars prequels and starred in Moulin Rouge! (2001), Black Hawk Down (2001), Big Fish (2003) and Angels and Demons (2009). Later films include Beauty and the Beast (2017), Christopher Robin (2018), Doctor Sleep (2019) and Birds of Prey (2020), and he won a Golden Globe for the third season of Fargo and a Primetime Emmy for Halston. He made his directing debut with American Pastoral (2016), which he also starred in, and has acted in theater productions of Guys and Dolls and Othello.
