Biography

Richard Masur is an American actor known for character roles. He has more than 40 film credits and served as president of the Screen Actors Guild for two terms from 1995 to 1999. Born in New York City, he trained at the Yale School of Drama, where he worked toward an MFA in acting, and performed on stage before moving into film and television in the 1970s. He had recurring roles on Rhoda between 1974 and 1977 and on One Day at a Time between 1975 and 1976, plus guest spots on All in the Family and The Waltons. He played Clark, the dog handler, in The Thing (1982), the father to Corey Haim's character in License to Drive (1988), and adult Stanley Uris in the 1990 miniseries It. He also appeared in Les Patriotes (The Patriots) (1994). Later he had a recurring role on All My Children beginning in 2006 and appeared on Younger from 2016 to 2018.
