Plot summary
The Commune, a New York improv troupe, is led by Miles, who teaches classes and once auditioned for Weekend Live without being chosen. Jack, his former pupil, tends to grandstand; Sam, Jack's girlfriend, is the emcee; Allison works on a graphic novel; Lindsay lives off her wealthy parents; Bill loves the work but feels unsuccessful. The theater that hosts their shows has been sold, and the group has one month to find another. When Weekend Live staff attend a performance, Miles hopes for another audition, but Jack takes over the scene, and the others are angry. A call afterward invites Jack and Sam to audition, and Sam loses her nerve.
