Paul Rudd
Biography
Paul Rudd is an American actor who trained at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and studied theater at the University of Kansas before his acting debut in 1991. His film credits include Clueless (1995), Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004) and Knocked Up (2007), as well as Wet Hot American Summer (2001) and The 40-Year-Old Virgin (2005). He played Scott Lang, also known as Ant-Man, in five Marvel Cinematic Universe films, starting with Ant-Man (2015) and including Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023). On television, he appeared as Mike Hannigan on Friends, won a Critics' Choice Television Award for a guest role on Parks and Recreation, and starred in Living with Yourself, which earned him a Golden Globe nomination. He also received Primetime Emmy nominations for Only Murders in the Building.

First role
Rudd's first acting job came in 1991, when he appeared in a commercial for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. He would go on to reference that same spot in a 2025 ad for the Nintendo Switch 2.
Early training
Paul Rudd trained at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, where Matthew Lillard was a fellow student. He also devoted three months to Jacobean drama at the British American Drama Academy in Oxford.
Behind the camera
In his next comedy, Role Models, Rudd wrote the script and starred with Seann William Scott. They portray energy drink salesmen forced to do community service in a child mentoring program.
Beyond film
In 2001, Rudd starred as Adam in The Shape of Things in its original London production. Starting that October, he played the part again Off-Broadway for three months, and two years later a film version used the same cast.
A first
Rudd narrated the 2007 edition of Hard Knocks, a long-running sports documentary series that featured the Kansas City Chiefs. It was the only season not narrated by the series' regular narrator, Liev Schreiber.
