Plot summary

Kate and Henry plan to marry, but on their wedding day an ice sculpture angel kills Kate, and she wakes in Purgatory, where an angel leaves before explaining what she must do. A year later Henry, a veterinarian, has closed off his social life, so his sister Chloe suggests he consult Ashley, a psychic who caters with her friend Dan. The first session produces nothing, so Chloe gives Ashley Kate's diary; Ashley draws on it to convince Henry that she is relaying messages from Kate and to nudge him toward moving on. Henry and Ashley become attracted to each other, which angers Kate, who watches over Henry. When Kate complains, Ashley can hear her, though she does not know what it means.
