Plot summary
Minotaur is sold as an energy drink that keeps kids off drugs, and Danny and Wheeler have promoted it for a decade. Wheeler likes the job; Danny finds it dead-end and pointless, and his mood costs him Beth, who ends their relationship after he proposes impulsively. A botched presentation at a high school leaves their truck towed, and when Danny tries to free it he nearly hits a security guard and crashes into a statue. Arrested, the two accept Beth's deal: 150 hours of community service over 30 days instead of 30 days in jail. Sturdy Wings, a big brother program run by Gayle Sweeney, assigns Wheeler to Ronnie Shields, a vulgar boy who has driven off the other Bigs, and Danny to Augie Farks, a shy teen devoted to LAIRE, a medieval live action role-playing game.
