Plot summary
In Dublin, Rick Power fronts The Bride and Groove, a wedding band, his musical ambitions traded for marriage to Rachel and life with their daughter, Aja. At a castle wedding the band crosses paths with Danny Wilson, a famous singer launching a solo album after his boy-band years. Danny joins the band onstage and later spends the evening with Rick, drinking and sharing music; Rick plays a song of his own, "How to Write a Song (Without You)". In Los Angeles, Danny's producer, Mac, dismisses the new material as generic, and his girlfriend, Marcia, overhears Rick's song and urges him to record it. Months later it is a hit, and Rick hears it while shopping.
