Biography

Steve Carell is an American actor and comedian who works as a screenwriter and producer. He first drew notice on The Dana Carvey Show and spent 1999 to 2005 as a correspondent for The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. He became widely known for playing Michael Scott on NBC's The Office, a role that won him a Golden Globe Award and brought six consecutive Emmy nominations for lead actor in a comedy. His film work includes Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004), The 40-Year-Old Virgin (2005), Little Miss Sunshine (2006), Crazy, Stupid, Love (2011). He voiced Gru in the Despicable Me series, beginning with Despicable Me (2010). In Foxcatcher (2014) he took a dramatic turn that earned Academy Award and BAFTA nominations, and he also appeared in The Big Short (2015) and Asteroid City (2023). He co-created Angie Tribeca, starred in The Morning Show, Space Force, and The Patient, and made his Broadway debut in Uncle Vanya in 2024.
