Biography
Lucy Liu is an American actress who became known for film, television, and voice work. Born in Jackson Heights, Queens, she graduated from the University of Michigan before making her New York stage debut in 1992. Her breakthrough came as Ling Woo on the Fox series Ally McBeal, earning her a Primetime Emmy nomination. She appeared in Payback (1999), Charlie's Angels (2000), Shanghai Noon (2000), Chicago (2002), Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (2003), and Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle (2003). Later films include Lucky Number Slevin (2006), Watching the Detectives (2007), The Man with the Iron Fists (2012), Set It Up (2018), and Shazam! Fury of the Gods (2023). On television, she starred as Dr. Joan Watson in Elementary from 2012 to 2019 and as Simone Grove in Why Women Kill in 2019. She voiced Master Viper in the Kung Fu Panda films and Silvermist in the Tinker Bell series. She made her Broadway debut in God of Carnage in 2010.
