Morris Bliss is thirty-five and stuck in Manhattan's East Village, in the apartment he keeps with his widowed father, Seymour. Travel is what he longs for, but he cannot afford it, and steady work has never come his way. His mother died young, and her loss left him shut down, so he has not moved forward since then. Then he meets Stephanie Jouseski, eighteen, the daughter of Jetski, a man he knew in high school. Their relationship is awkward, and it starts to unravel the static life he has held onto.
