Biography

Mae Whitman is an American actor who began her career as a child, starting with voice-over work at age two. Born in Los Angeles, she made her film debut at five in When a Man Loves a Woman (1994). She then appeared in One Fine Day (1996), Independence Day (1996), and Hope Floats (1998). On television, she had roles in Chicago Hope and JAG. She gained wider recognition for the sitcom Arrested Development, the drama Parenthood, for which she earned a Critics' Choice Television Award nomination, and the crime comedy Good Girls. Her film credits include Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010), The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012), and The DUFF (2015), the last bringing a Teen Choice Award nomination. As a voice actor, she is known for Katara in Avatar: The Last Airbender, Tinker Bell in the Disney film series, and Amity Blight in The Owl House.
