Biography
Jane Fonda is an American actress who began on Broadway in 1960 with There Was a Little Girl, earning a Tony nomination, and made her film debut that year in Tall Story. Born in New York City to actor Henry Fonda, she broke through with comedies including Barefoot in the Park (1967), Cat Ballou (1965), and Barbarella (1968). She won two Academy Awards for Best Actress, for Klute (1971) and Coming Home (1978), and earned further Oscar nominations for On Golden Pond (1981), The China Syndrome (1979), Julia (1977), The Morning After (1986), and They Shoot Horses, Don't They? (1969). Her run of hits included 9 to 5 (1980), California Suite (1978), The Electric Horseman (1979), and Fun with Dick and Jane (1977). She won an Emmy for The Dollmaker (1984) and starred in Grace and Frankie from 2015 to 2022. Later films include Book Club (2018), Youth (2015), and Monster-in-Law (2005).
