Plot summary
Eileen Tyler, 22, writes about music for an Albany newspaper and has just broken up with Russ Wilson, a self-absorbed scion of the city's richest family. She refused him premarital sex and now arrives unannounced at the Upper East Side loft of her older brother Adam, an airline pilot, to ask his advice. Adam says that men want a woman who has kept her virtue and, at her request, swears he has never slept around. Her visit wrecks his plans with Mona Harris, so he tells Eileen he is going skating at Rockefeller Center. Once the pair has gone, Adam's boss telephones looking for a pilot on call, and Eileen sets out to deliver the message, running into Mike Mitchell, a Philadelphia music critic.
