Plot summary
Claire leaves her dog with her daughter and grandchildren and travels across the country for the funeral of Joyce, her old college friend. Before the service she tells Joyce's widower Howard that she plans to kill him. Afterward she reconnects with Evelyn, who had been Joyce's roommate in college. Howard wronged Claire decades earlier, and the two women decide on revenge. The two of them try to buy a gun and fail, and Evelyn at first declines to join the plan, returning to her assisted-living facility. At the wake Claire meets Ralph, her ex-husband, for the first time in years.
