Plot summary
Jesse Veldini, an ex-con, loves demolition derbies and has wrecked almost every car he could find. A 1950 Studebaker pushes him to violate his parole, which embarrasses his brother Frank, a district attorney with political ambitions. Iris Caine, a prostitute, has a relationship with Jesse that keeps stopping and starting again. Jesse joins other misfits who want a happier life outside society's norms. Together they work to get an old Consolidated PBY Catalina flying again.
