Dolly Parton
Biography
Dolly Parton was an American singer-songwriter and actress who ranked among country music's most successful performers. Raised in East Tennessee, she was writing songs by age six, appeared on local television by ten and was a professional songwriter while still a teenager. Her 1967 debut album, Hello, I'm Dolly, began a career that yielded 49 studio albums and more than 3,000 songs, among them Jolene and I Will Always Love You. She starred in comedies including 9 to 5 (1980) and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (1982), along with Rhinestone (1984) and Steel Magnolias (1989), and later Straight Talk (1992) and Joyful Noise (2012). She produced and appeared in Dolly Parton's Christmas on the Square (2020), which won her a Primetime Emmy Award, and her Broadway score for 9 to 5 earned a Tony nomination. Her honors included eleven Grammy Awards, three Emmy Awards and a Kennedy Center Honor.

In early 2022, Parton received a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nomination. She turned it down, since she thought the hall was "for the people in rock music", but once she learned that was wrong, she agreed to be inducted if picked, and that May her induction was announced.
