Biography

Will Ferrell is an American comedian, actor, writer and producer who first made his name in the mid-1990s as a performer on Saturday Night Live, where he stayed from 1995 to 2002. He trained in improvisation with the Groundlings in Los Angeles before that. His comedy hits include Old School (2003), Elf (2003) and Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004), followed by Step Brothers (2008), The Other Guys (2010) and Get Hard (2015). He showed a dramatic side in Stranger Than Fiction (2006) and Downhill (2020). Among his voice roles are Megamind (2010), Curious George (2006) and Despicable Me 4 (2024). As a producer he won Emmy Awards for Succession and for Live in Front of a Studio Audience, and his Broadway show You're Welcome America earned him a Tony nomination. He received the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor in 2011.

    Ferrell was cast as the voice of Megamind in the 2010 DreamWorks film, taking over after both Robert Downey Jr. and Ben Stiller turned down the role.
