Plot summary
Doug keeps trying to ditch his Border Terrier, Reggie, and finally leaves him in a city three hours from home. Reggie is sure his owner will return. There he meets Bug, a street-wise Boston Terrier who drives off a Rottweiler and a Dobermann and then teaches him how strays get by. A night with Bug's friends, Australian Shepherd Maggie and Hunter, a Great Dane therapy dog in an Elizabethan collar, opens Reggie's eyes to how Doug treated him. The three agree to travel back with him. Because Reggie has never been so far from home, the group steers by landmarks he remembers: a ferris wheel he calls a giant hamster wheel, a hill he calls a giant cone, and a billboard postman he knows as the Devil in the Sky.
