Biography

Walton Goggins is an American actor who was born in Birmingham, Alabama, and raised in Lithia Springs, Georgia, before moving to Los Angeles at nineteen to take acting classes and audition. He played Shane Vendrell on the FX drama The Shield and later formed the production company Ginny Mule Pictures, whose short film The Accountant (2001) won an Academy Award. His film work includes Predators (2010), Django Unchained (2012), The Hateful Eight (2015), Tomb Raider (2018), Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018) and Fatman (2020). On television he is known for playing Boyd Crowder on Justified, which earned him a Primetime Emmy nomination, and he also appeared in Vice Principals, The Righteous Gemstones, Fallout, which brought a lead actor Emmy nomination, and The White Lotus.

    Goggins was cast as Boyd Crowder in the Justified pilot, but the character was meant to die in that episode; Graham Yost kept him after he scored highly with test audiences, and Goggins joined the main cast in May 2010.

  2. A role that slipped away

    Goggins was set to play the lead in the drama series Rectify, which his production company Ginny Mule Pictures created, but the role went to Aden Young when the series moved to Sundance TV.

  3. A first

    Goggins designed a line of active eyewear and promoted it in a co-branded GoDaddy commercial that aired during Super Bowl LIX in 2025. It was the first time he appeared in a Super Bowl ad.
